30 Jan Poppy Therapies Turns 18! A Journey of Growth and Gratitude
On February 13th, Poppy Therapies hits a huge milestone—18 years in business! It’s been an incredible journey of growth and gratitude, and I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how it all began and where it’s taken me.
Back in my 30s, I had one of those lightbulb moments where I realised my life wasn’t heading in the direction I wanted. I’d always been interested in natural health, and I knew deep down that I needed to make a big change. So, I took a big leap of faith and retrained in Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, and Reiki. I started out part-time, slowly building a client base while staying true to my vision: creating a calm, restful space where people could take a break from the stresses of daily life.
Fast forward 18 years, and I’m still here, still doing what I love, and still amazed by the people I get to meet. So many of my clients have been with me for years, and over time, they’ve become friends. I love that Poppy Therapies has become a place people recommend to those they care about—it’s the biggest compliment I could ask for.
One of the things I love most about this work is that I’m always learning. There’s always something new to discover, whether it’s a new treatment technique or a fresh perspective on holistic wellbeing. Over the past few years, my work has expanded to include treatments in care homes for adults with learning disabilities, which has been incredibly rewarding.
In 2018, I decided to take things in a new direction and trained in Relax Kids, followed by the Children’s Yoga Teacher Training during lockdown in 2020. This led to the launch of Poppy Kids, which has allowed me to share the benefits of yoga and relaxation with over a thousand children across West Yorkshire. From schools to libraries, nurseries to private sessions, it’s been amazing to see the impact these sessions have had.
At its core, Poppy Therapies has always been about creating a space where people feel safe, nurtured, and able to relax. Seeing clients walk into my treatment room and instantly feel at ease never gets old—it’s what keeps me going.
So, as Poppy Therapies turns 18, I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey and contributed to the growth of Poppy Therapies. Whether you’ve been a client, recommended me to a friend, or simply supported me along the way, I appreciate you more than I can say. Here’s to many more years of helping people feel their best! ❤️
